Itinerary

  1. 01

    Al-Alamin War Cemetery.

Around 7:30 AM, we will meet you at your hotel lobby to begin your private day trip to Al Alamein, one of Egypt’s most fascinating destinations on the Mediterranean coast. The journey from Cairo takes approximately 3 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions, but the drive offers a great opportunity to see the changing landscape as you travel from the capital toward Egypt’s beautiful North Coast. Upon arrival in Al Alamein, your private guide will accompany you to explore the historic Commonwealth War Cemetery, one of the most important World War II memorial sites in Egypt. Here, you will learn about the soldiers from different countries who lost their lives during the famous battles of Al Alamein in 1942. The cemetery is beautifully maintained and provides a peaceful setting for understanding the scale and human cost of the battles that took place in this region. You will then visit the area where the heroic battles of World War II took place. Your guide will explain the historical events surrounding the First and Second Battles of El Alamein, the military strategies used by the opposing forces, and the importance of this area in the North African Campaign. Al Alamein played a crucial role in stopping the advance of the Axis forces toward Egypt and the Suez Canal. Continue your visit to the German and Italian military cemeteries, where you can see the memorials dedicated to soldiers who died during the North African Campaign. These sites offer a different perspective on the history of the war and provide an opportunity to reflect on the thousands of lives lost during the conflict. After exploring the historical sites, enjoy some free time in New Al Alamein City, a modern destination on Egypt’s North Coast. Take a relaxing walk, enjoy the impressive views, and admire the city’s striking modern architecture and iconic high-rise buildings. This part of the tour gives you a chance to experience the contrast between the historic battlefields of Old Al Alamein and the modern development of New Al Alamein. After your visit, we will begin our journey back toward Cairo. On the way, you will stop at a nice local restaurant for lunch, where you can enjoy a delicious meal before continuing your journey. Since the drive to Al Alamein is relatively long and the itinerary includes several sightseeing stops, we recommend bringing a small snack box or some fruit and light snacks with you, especially if you would like something to enjoy during the journey. At the end of the tour, we will drive you back to Cairo and drop you off at your hotel, concluding a memorable day combining World War II history, military heritage, Mediterranean scenery, and the modern architecture of New Al Alamein City.
